From Mark's site:
Backpacker’s dream. Young Australian leaves the family home in
Kew, for a trip around the world…before settling into his degree course in
Medicine at Melbourne University. There are tearful goodbyes at the departure
gates, and he steps through the doorway in his Wallabies jumper. Several months
later he disappears in Madagascar during a famine. His passport is stolen. He
finds himself in a gutter, bowl in hand.
Lyrics
I've never seen so many faces
Hope was shining in their eyes
One day rolls into another
And in a breath the baby dies
I didn't know what I was missing
In paradise down under
I never knew where we belonged until
now
I was only escaping
Paradise down under
Down and out in Madagascar
They fight to live another day
When you remind me of a good life
This world is blowing me away
I know what I was missing
In paradise down under
I never knew where I belonged until
now
I was only escaping
Paradise down under
If only you were here
You would see what I've become
My eyes are open
I used to be so innocent but in the
end I had to let it go
It's only something
missing
In paradise down under
I never knew where we belonged until
now
I was only escaping
Paradise down under
Paradise down under
