Edge Of Nowhere
"Edge Of Nowhere" is not one of the six singles off the "Cut" album but is an amazing song, best listened to at night in the dark. The song is perfect - the 'horns of contempt', the vocals, the echo's, the drumming - everything. In a Rolling Stone article in 1992, Mark Seymour had this to say about "Edge Of Nowhere": "That's an interesting one. An athlete that I ran with died - he was run over by a truck. It was a Thursday night - competition night. Like me, the guys I run with were really upset. That song is about appealing to someone, trying to bridge an impossible gap - the gap in possible communication that is between you and someone who isn't there. It's about alienation - being disconnected from the envirnoment you live in, which is so basic I don't understand why more musicians don't write about it more."
We run together but so much is left
unsaid Can I call you from the edge of
nowhere? There's so much I could say but I
can't tell you why Can I call you from the edge of
nowhere? [repeat]
