Commentary
Opening up to a great simple guitar riff, "Blue Morning" is one of
the more rocking tracks on "One Eyed Man", as well as one of the
catchiest. Excellent guitar, bass and drum work combined with an exceptional
melody make "Blue Morning" an ideal single if "One Eyed Man"
takes off.
The song seems to be about a man who can not catch the woman he desires and
hence spends him time on pointless one night stands and the associated
hangovers. Alternatively the person is temporarily infatuated with the person
from the last one night stand. The official Mark
Seymour website describes the song as a look at the fun of one night stand
as if it is the first time.
Lyrics
He staggers in the morning
Makes a cuppa tea
Yet another day of yawning
He's on the loose again
From the frying pan straight into the
fire
Blue morning hangovers
They never lie
She's always on your mind
There's nothing you can do
And not a lot to say
But who knows where she's running to
She's always on your mind
He found a photograph
Trashed it in his fingers
Threw it out the window
She's not the girl for you
You tell yourself again
Your the boy who never lied
Blue morning boy heroes
They never cry
She's always on your mind
There's nothing you can do
And not a lot to say
But who knows where she's running to
She's always on your mind
Those busy little fingers
Go looking for adventure
In somebody's room tonight
You never turned the light on
You never saw the action
Then don't let your feelings show
But who knows where she's running to?
She's always on your mind
She's always on your mind
But who knows where she's running to?
She's always on your mind
She's always on your mind
There's nothing you can do
And not a lot to say
But who knows where she's running to
She's always on your mind
