7 April 2013 - Collected Mark and Hunters Talk... Good morning everyone! While I remember it, a few scratchings of memories from catching up with Mark, Rob and band last night... :)
:)
6 April 2013 - Mark Seymour Gold Coast Set List Mark played for the Surfers Paradise Festival last night in front of a few thousand punters who came out for a night of free music on the beach. The night also featured The Choirboys before and The Black Sorrows afterwards! The wind provided lots of challenges for Rob on front of desk, but Mark, Cam, John and Peter overcame the challenges to put on a stunning performance. Mark revelled in the large crowd and clearly enjoyed the experience. The crowd was a beautiful mix of music fans and complete randoms, including many overseas tourists, who happened to stumble upon the concert. The tourists seems particularly chuffed at what they had unexpectedly found. Given we last saw Mark only one month ago, the only new track in the set list was Caroline - a worthy addition :)
3 April 2013 - Under One Roof Deluxe Edition Liberation Records are releasing a 'Deluxe Edition' of the classic Hunters and Collectors live album Under One Roof on Friday! It appears to be a combined CD and DVD package presented in a 'digipack' cover. The Deluxe edition is selling for A$19.99 at JB's Hi Fi and A$21.99 at Sanity.

9 March 2013 - Mark Seymour in Armidale Set List Brisbane fans John and I hit the road for Mark's 'A Day on the Green' gig last weekend at Armidale in central New South Wales. Mark shared the bill with Lisa Mitchell and the Neil Finn-Paul Kelly duo. Mark, Cam, John and Pete ripped through a rocking set, packing as much as possible into hour. The set list was a great mix of the best of Hunters and Mark's solo tunes. This was the first time we have enjoyed Counting On You, from Mark's new album Seventh Heaven Club, and the Hunters track Where Do You Go? in Mark's set list. John's favourite live track was Say Goodbye; mine Castlemaine. Mark was swamped with customers for his new album afterwards - so much so that we did not even get a chance to catch up! Not as much news as we would like to share, but it is our own fault because we were not going to miss Paul Kelly and Neil Finn while we were there...!

20 May 2013 Source: 1982 06 12 San Miguel Hotel, Sydney, Australia Cassette The other week, I sought more information from the band on the mysterious "Gung", which can be found a few live recordings from around the era when Payload and The Fireman's Curse were recorded. Subtle as a brick, I was informed: Gunga Din. Jesus H Christ! This was followed up by the Rob's softer feedback of: "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din!" (the peom by Rudyard Kipling.) Which has left me wondering if the initial response was because of this webmaster's lack of poetry knowledge or the songs reappearance... I suspect the former :) A bit of further research indicates this may even be a cover, as the poem has appeared in songs prior to this version in 1982. It's another weird one for the early maddies. You know who you are... Click here to check it out!
13 May 2013 Source: 1987 06 15 I-Beam, San Francisco, California, USA Cassette As part of our commitment to covering every Hunters era, this week we return to What's A Few Men? for the first time since March. Here we have a different, early version of So Long Ago that would appear to be from before the What's A Few Men? recording sessions. It is a mid creation glimpse of a song that was later to become a much enjoyed album track. Click here to check it out! Next week, we will be providing a never heard before song from the archives...
6 May 2013 Source: 1992 12 14 Palais Theatre, Melboune, Australia Cassette Cut seems to occupy a strange part in the Hunters journey - a last attempt at hitting it 'big' with a renowned American producer, yet after the US record company Atlantic had pulled the plug. It brought Hunters to a new generation in Australia and spawned a massive six top 100 singles - yet band feelings remain mixed. The popularity of album tracks that were not singles speaks volumes about the ongoing following of the Cut album. This is one of them - Grindstone - which appears courtesy of a request from Gary. Click here to check it out!
29 April 2013 Source: 1993 12 Demon Flower Rough Mixes This week we have decided to provide something that noone has requested. It is something noone could have requested as it is a completely unknown song, never knowingly played live, found on a rough mix tape. This is one for the Demon Flower fans who are already spoiled for tracks on the Living in Large Rooms and Lounges album. How Does Your Garden Grow? was recorded for Demon Flower but did not make the final cut :) Rock on! Click here to check it out!
22 April 2013 Source: 1982 08 06 Oxford Hotel, Melbourne, Australia Cassette Long starved of any live material from the mysterious, dark early days of Hunters and Collectors, fans of the early 1980's Hunnas continue to appear on our website keen on what can be found... This week Jason asks us: "Hey, I've been thrashing the H+C stuff, thanks very much. Do you have a live version of Lumps of Lead" The response from us: "Yes. Yes I do." In fact, I think the archives have a few recordings of Lumps of Lead through 1982 and 1983. Here's one from the Oxford Hotel in Melbourne. The full recording of this gig is less likely to see the light of day due to suspected speed issues on side two of the tape. Likely caused by the recording equipment of the time.. but then again... Click here to check it out!
15 April 2013 Source: 1985 01 15 06 Live Two Tracks Cassette Today's track results from a modest request from Stephen: "I loved the Hear No Evil acoustic version which was quite different from the released version. Is there another song that differs drastically from the album version, either in a early demo style form, or a later reworked live form?" Well... the good news is that we have a few options to fulfill this request. This week we have picked an early version of a track from the Human Frailty album. A less polished, harder rocking 6 minute 17 second early live to two track recording of Relief! You will love this... Click here to check it out!
8 April 2013 Source: 1995 Live Demons in Amsterdam promotional EP This week we feature a second track from the rare Live Demons in Amsterdam promo EP from 1995 - Holy Grail! We posted a first track from Live Demons back in February :) If you are new here, please note that a superior and highly recommended live cut of Holy Grail can be found on the Under One Roof album, out this week in a cut price CD plus DVD version! Click here to check it out!
1 April 2013 Source: 1989 03 28 Middle Park Hotel, Melbourne, Australia Cassette ...and this week a request from Gary - Running Water live! Amazingly, this is a difficult recording to find - it took about half an hour of trawling through recordings to find a copy. It's another example of a track that fans often love but the band themselves were not too fussed about. Enjoy! Click here to check it out!
25 March 2013 Source: 1988 09 05 Ritz, Stockholm, Sweden Cassette It been a while since our last What's A Few Men?/Fate era rarity - so this week we are pleased to present a live incarnation of Wishing Well from Sweden! Now, I am not completely confident on the speed of this recording. The original seemed slow; so this version is sped up by 2%. Please feel free to experiment and advise on what this should be...! :) Click here to check it out!
