Internationally recognized as one of Australia’s greatest singer songwriters, Mark Seymour is touring across Canada this summer in support of his latest release, The Closest Living Thing.

Best known as the iconic front man of band Hunters & Collectors, Seymour is scheduled to play the Vernon Performing Arts Centre, July 12.

The Closest Living Thing is a collection of 14 acoustic versions of Hunters & Collectors favourites including Aussie anthem Throw Your Arms Around Me, River Runs Dry and Holy Grail.

Seymour, whose brother, Nick, is the bassist in Crowded House, reached Australian rock cult status throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s with Hunters & Collectors.

The band performed around the world and toured extensively in Canada, often sharing the stage with Midnight Oil.

Hunters & Collectors disbanded in 1998 and since that time Seymour has moved forward with a solo career.

Canada has always held a special place in Seymour’s heart. He immortalized the city of Mississauga in his song of the same name and the truly Canadian experience of hitting a moose in his short story, John Archer and the Moose, from his book Thirteen Tonne Theory.

Seymour has also composed film scores, written and performed music for theatrical productions and has been a professional actor.

Tickets for his show in Vernon will be available at the Ticket Seller box office. Call 549-7469 or visit www.ticketseller.ca.
