Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1 INTRODUCTION

This is a set of frequently asked questions for all things relating to Hunters and Collectors.

2 BAND

2.1 Where are they now?

See the band section. The band are no longer together but Mark Seymour and Jack Howard have solo music careers.

2.2 Why did they break up?

As assortment of reasons, a number of which can be found in the media from around the time of the split. Reasons include families (most members have children), volatile relationships within the band, lack of international success and it was just time to call it a day.

3 SONGS

3.1 Where can I find lyrics?

Go to the songs section and click on the song you want the lyrics to.

3.2 Did they sing "you don't make me feel like I'm a woman anymore"?

Yes and it is called "Say Goodbye".

3.3 Did they sing "walk away, don't take no for an answer"?

Yes and it is called "Blind Eye" (or "Turn A Blind Eye").

3.4 Where is the song "Betty's Worry" these days?

"Betty's Worry" is better known as "The Slab".

3.5 Did they sing "Happy Birthday Helen"?

No. This is a song by Things of Stone and Wood that has been mislabelled on the Internet as being by Hunters and Collectors.

3.6 Do you have a recording of Mark Seymour's "Lorelei"?

Yes. Contact the fan community. Please release a version, Mark!

3.7 What was that tune the Hunters played at gigs before jumping on stage?

It is music from the 1976 action-thriller movie "Assault on Precinct 13", directed by John Carpenter. John Archer rerecorded it into the form that fans know and love. There is a great story behind this, but Rob has a "kind of like" of the mystery...

4 RELEASES

4.1 These Liberation Records re-releases - are they worth getting?

The Liberation Records releases are remastered and more desirable than the original releases in terms of audio. The differences in most albums are minor but "Hunters and Collectors", "The Jaws Of Life" and "The Way To Go Out" are noticeably improved.

4.2 What Hunters and Collectors stuff is available new?

See our albums section.

4.3 Where can I buy Hunters and Collectors items?

See our links section.

4.4 Are there any Hunters and Collectors DVD's released?

Three Hunters and Collectors DVD's are available. There is a comprehensive collection of studio video clips called "Natural Selection" while the other two are live performances "Under One Roof" and "The Way To Go Out".

4.5 Are there any Hunters and Collectors posters and if there are, where can they be found?

They do exist but can be hard to find. Occasionally they turn up on E-bay ( http://www.ebay.com ).

4.6 Are there any Hunters and Collectors t-shirts and if there are, where can they be found?

There have been approximately 140 t-shirts over the years, some of which can be found in the art section. However, they are hard to find. They sometimes turn up on E-bay ( http://www.ebay.com ). Ideally, we would like to make available some Hunters and Collectors shirts, but for the time being this is not really feasible.

4.7 Is there an overall 'best of' album?

Liberation Records released a CD best of set called "Natural Selection" in October 2003. This album was originally available in a limited edition two CD format. A DVD version also exists containing all Hunters and Collectors video clips.

4.8 What are the best Hunters and Collectors albums to start with?

We recommend "Cut" (1992) and "Human Frailty" (1986). Two very different albums, both exceptional in their own way.

4.9 I am keen... what is the best way to build up a Hunters and Collectors album collection?

The best way is to pick up a copy of the Horn of Plenty (2008) box set.

If you want to gradually pick up individual CD's, here is a debatable path...

Pick up the "Natural Selection" (2003) 'best of' set in one or two CD format.
Acquire "Human Frailty" (1986) and "Cut" (1992).
If you like live albums, pick up "Under One Roof" (1998).
Acquire "What's A Few Men?" (1987) and "Ghost Nation" (1989).
Purchase "The Jaws Of Life" (1984), "Juggernaut" (1998), "Demon Flower" (1994) and "Hunters and Collectors" (1982).
Acquire the live albums "Living In Large Rooms and Lounges" (1995) and "The Way To Go Out" (1985). Pick up "Under One Roof" (1998) if you have not already.
Pick up the rarities compilation "Mutations" (2005).
Get your hands on "The Fireman's Curse" (1983). Whatever you do, get this album last.

If you like later Hunters and Collectors, you can not go wrong with Mark Seymour and Jack Howard's solo albums.
